| A number of
songs of the WATAFITI Group were never released. In a home studio in Tanga
in 1987 with the late Marijani Rajabu as vocalist, the mdundiko "Msafiri" and
the song about the mozambican boy "Jose" were recorded.
In the 1980s the last liberation wars against colonialism on the continent were fought ("Jose") and also "apartheid" was not yet completely eliminated. The song "Afrika tumechoka" is among the last "anti-apartheid" songs composed in Tanzania. Also listen to "Koba" the man experiencing the loss of respect for the elders in african society and the jazzy "Krezi Kona" |
The charming
"Karibu Tanzania" (Welcome to Tanzania) would certainly qualify to be played
on the National Airliner and other entry points to the country, this version
is less polished than the version on the CD "Umoja", but you can
smell the burning fire and taste the dust.
"Usinisogelee" was transformed twice from the original TX Seleleka song, this version with Marijani, is the first 1st attempt and differs from the 2nd version on the "Umoja" CD. This version has the same "life feeling" of the other songs recorded in Tanga |
